New FTC Rules for Internet Marketers and What You Must Know
Posted by JamesHolmesI am fairly convinced that the podcast scheduled for Friday October 23, 2009 is among the most important to date due to the subject matter. My guest will be Kevin E. Houchin, Esq and the topic will be the new FTC Rules concerning endorsements and testimonials used in marketing. Here is an excellent post on Kevin’s blog: New Rules: Endorsements & Testimonials in Marketing
The new FTC rules go into affect on December 1, 2009 and they will directly impact the design of your webpages, blog post, and sales pages. It really doesn’t matter if you are product creator and owner or an affiliate marketer, if you use endorsements or testimonials you must understand these changes and know how to market within the guidelines.
Kevin E. Houchin, Esq is my favorite type of person, a multi-talented, renaissance man who follows his passions in the practice of law, author, coach, teacher, marketer, designer, and artist. Kevin is principal of Houchin & Associates, P.C. , a copyright, trademark, arts & entertainment, business development, and branding firm located in Fort Collins, Colorado.
When I first began to research this topic, my friend Joel Comm published a post where he basically introduced his attorney and literally said “Kevin, take it away…” This was followed by the best overview I have seen on the subject. I would encourage you to head over to Joel’s blog and read the comments from his readers, there some useful thoughts there – JoelComm.com.
Here is the funny side note. I found Kevin Houchin on Twitter and when I went to his blog to read his post I thought this looks familiar, I had come full circle and putting it all together realized that Kevin is the attorney featured on his post.
Books by Kevin E. Houchin:
“Fuel the Spark: 5 Guiding Values for Success in Law & Life”
“Fuel the Spark: 5 Guiding Values for Success in Law School & Beyond”
In my research I found a number of excellent post from people who I hold in high esteem as marketers. Here is a series of links to assist you in gaining vital knowledge on this FTC issues.
