My acquisition of Swat Traffic Exchange

I appreciate all of the readers of my blog, listeners to my podcast and subscribers to my mailing list. Many of you have made a personal connection with me over the past three years and have either become business associates and in many cases friends. I want you to be among the first to know about a major business objective that I achieved and how this benchmark can benefit you.

Over the past 9 months I have been in pursuit of a traffic exchange membership site for a number of reasons. First,  I owe the industry a dept of gratitude as traffic exchanges and safe-list played a major role in my business when I first came online. It was through traffic exchanges that I found my initial mentors like Russell Brunson, Ewen Chia, Mike Filsaime among others.

In addition to finding a few mentors and many valuable training resources, I learned how to build a list and begin to network with other experienced marketers and grow my sphere of influence. This took both time and effort, but I believe I am at a tipping point where many of my major goals are going to come to fruition.

Gratitude is a great motivator and I have long been an evangelist of the traffic exchange industry so my desire to become an exchange owner seems like a natural progression. But many goals are easier to imagine than to achieve and this has been a nine month journey.

Over the past nine months I have been in pursuit to launch or purchase a traffic exchange and I had no idea how challenging an idea this was for several reasons. First, it is very difficult to launch a unique exchange as a new owner in a very crowded industry with scare development resources as it relates to web coders and scripts. My best option was to purchase a quality exchange from an existing owner, but that also provided to be a challenge as the good rarely change hands.

I became acquainted with Jon Olson the author of “The Pizza Plan” and owner of “I Love Hits” and “Swat Traffic” several months ago when I hosted Jon as a guest on my podcast. We had sense become friends and every now and then he would mention that Swat Traffic could be bought! For a dozen reasons I wont go into here, I never really thought there would be an opportunity to purchase an exchange like Swat Traffic but that is exactly what has occurred.

So, I guess you can say there is a “new sheriff in town” and I am proud to pick up Jon’s legacy, an exchange that he created from an idea and has grown to nearly 30,000 members over the past couple of years. I have some new ideas and a commitment to build a large thriving community of Internet marketers who have a desire to achieve true freedom and live the Internet lifestyle.

I have developed some really great friendships among my Internet Marketing peers, some I have met in person and an even larger number I have gotten to know through telephone conversations, Skype chats, email exchanges and live streams. All of these relationships have added value to my business and my  life and every now and then they produce some pretty cool experiences – just like friendships in the offline world.

Last Wednesday was one such occasion as I had a chance to jump onto “TE Live” hosted by Jon Olson and Tim Linden – the show airs weekdays on UStream TV.

My TE pal Lynn McCutcheon owner of Traffic Pro-X and all around awesome person, summed up my appearance on her blog as follows:

• James shared a lot of good input and insight on the discussion we were all having about the negativity in TE Land in general and some other great stuff (always great coming from James), and after we all talked about it all at length a little more, the mood changed a little bit and some of us talked about how those of us who still support what we know traffic exchanges can do probably need to work a little harder at trying to keep a more positive outlook on things TE-wise and keeping on trying to help teach people the right way to do things to get results (a la Affiliate Funnel, TE Live, etc.).
• We also found out James has a daughter who’s in college. I am still suspicious that he can’t possibly be old enough to have a daughter in college looking so young himself!
• James’ daughter was asking him about TE Live when she was there recently, and we had some discussion about the kids of TE Live. Tim and Jon were talking about going to get coffee and we all wondered why, when they both have kids there (as Jon’s son is visiting this week), they haven’t trained any of those kids to bring them their coffee.
• Tim went to get coffee with his headset on, so we could still hear him but couldn’t see him. Then we heard his coffee maker.
• Then when Tim got back, Jon went to get his coffee.
• James didn’t go get any coffee.
• I really don’t know what Jon’s doing here:

Lynn pretty accurately described the free for all… part serious and part totally random… just the way we like it!

If you haven’t yet experience the “water cooler” conversation that is TE Live, I personally invite you to stop by and spend some time with us. When I first started participating in TE Live a few months ago, I was always waiting for the “presentation” to start… it never did and what has evolved is something far more valuable to the participants… the people who tune in every day. It is a community of people who are getting to know each other, who can safely share their rants, best ideas, tips, promotions, and a good laugh everyday!
