My Support of The Global Enrichment Foundation

I was inspired to act last Friday as my wife and I were watching the NBC Today Show and Kate Snow’s interview with Amanda Lindhout the founder of The Global Enrichment Foundation (GEF). Amanda established the foundation  to support the women of Somalia and empower women worldwide through education. Hearing her story and understanding the desperate situation in Somalia left me with both an uneasy feeling and a heartfelt desire to find a creative way to make a real difference.

After doing further research over the weekend, I came up with an idea and I have made a decision to adopt GEF as the official non-profit of the Viral Traffic Network. Through a series of initiatives, we will provide contributions to The Somali Woman’s Scholarship program and other activities of The Global Enrichment Foundation. Details on the full scope of this commitment will be forthcoming in a future post. She is passionate about sharing her message of forgiveness and about creating awareness of the opportunities each individual has to create sustainable change in the world. Lindhout studied Development Leadership at the Coady International Institute at St. Francis Xavier University.

This is a long-term commitment from me and the Viral Traffic Network. I plan on conducting a number of training events and other promotions to raise money for The Somali Women’s Scholarship Program. What’s Up with Rosalind Gardner and Ewen Chia?

I thought perhaps it was April 1st … “April Fools Day” because two of the marketers I respect most in the affiliate marketing arena where engaged in a very public dispute complete with some harmful comments from Rosalind Gardner attacking a respected fellow “Super Affiliate” Ewen Chia in a public forum (Rosalind’s blog).  I love Rosalind Gardner, I have read her book “Super Affiliate Handbook” and have recommended it as an affiliate, I still do. But, I have to admit that this one took me buy surprise because Ewen Chia was unfairly blind-sided in an unprofessional way.

We could have a long debate about auto-blogging, track-backs, blog commenting for links and many widely accepted white, gray, and black hat traffic methods. The truth is that the Internet is still the wild frontier and for as many experts that would cry fowl, you can find another with perfectly legitimate reasons for why these methods are acceptable. It is kind of like trying to tell someone “how to use social media” the correct way, no such thing exist. Now I could make some obvious recommendation of things you shouldn’t do, but fundamentally social media is an open forum and still in it’s infancy, so you get my point.

I have included the key information and links to both Rosalind’s and Ewen’s blog for you to decide for yourself the merits of this little dispute. What I wanted to comment on is a trend that I am seeing in many niches online. The arguments are not related to products or programs but rather exist among accepted “gurus” of which Rosalind and Ewen both qualify, suddenly feeling the need to assign right or wrong to the practice of Internet marketing, traffic generation, and SEO among others. The troubling part about this trend is the personal attacks.

The dynamics are in constant flux, what worked yesteday may not work tomorrow, a few big name marketers have abandoned the Internet niche in a shift to local business consulting, etc. There is a tremendous amount of change and quite frankly some nervous people. Perhpas this to shall pass, but in the meantime I hope that this serves as the low watermark and we can all get back to serving our markets in the way we believe adds the most value and fulfills our individual model at the same time.

I understand from reading Rosalind’s follow-up post that she has retracted her comments and personally apologized to Ewen Chia, which I applaud her for as it was the right thing to do. I did not want this to pass you my readers without drawing out the lessons here. It is a true teaching moment as there are topics for public comment and those best made in private. One truth about the Intenet that will likely never change, once you put something out on the web, it is almost impossible to take it back. Information travels too far and too fast for the deletion of content to wipe the slate clean.

I truly do admire and respect both Rosalind Gardner and Ewen Chia and I wish them both continued success and trust that we are all a little smarter from this episode. I would love to read your comments and would encourage you to read both the original post and apology to develop an informed opinion. A top ten list of internet marketers is always subjective and I am certain you will have a name or two to add to my list. From where I sit here are the top 10 Internet marketers to watch in the later half of 2011 and beyond. This is not a Internet Marketing Popularity list or a list of social media celebrities, I will get to that in a future blog post. I have compiled this list based on two key criteria; first, these marketers have a proven track record of creating products, tools, and resources that work. Second, every person on this list has a proven training system(s) that have successfully taught others how to make money as well.

01. Jeremy Shoemaker – Through his brand ShoeMoney, Jeremy is the real deal and delivers amazing value in both his free and paid courses and other online resources. I recently reviewed the new platform as an affiliate saw a glimpse of what is on the agenda in the months ahead. I don’t think all of their systems are set to promote, but I would keep an eye on this as a very solid affiliate program to add to your funnel. For now, I would suggest taking a tour and opting into their training and take action on what you learn.

10 Essential Resources for Internet Marketing Success

One of the keys to Internet marketing success is building the proper foundation which includes creating an online presence, owning your intellectual property, capturing leads, building a list, and converting sales from your list allowing you to make money. There are very few barriers to setting up an Internet business and the initial expenses are very small compared to the offline world. Creating a sustainable income online does require a few small investments and those whom try to do succeed using only free resources typically have very little success or non at all, which leads to program hoping in an attempt to find something that will work.

So what are the essential tools and resources you must have to succeed? This is a great question to ask and I have a very direct answer for you complete with my top recommendations to set you in the right direction when it comes to achieving online success.

Expect to pay between $5 – $10 per month depending on the hosting plan.

• Go Daddy- If you are looking for a easy solution with good customer service and a reputation for reliability.

4.) A Name Squeeze Page or Lead Capture Page set-up on your own domain(s).

This allows you to build a list and grow relationships with your list – your list is the single most important asset you will cultivate as you build your business.

I have been able to create a tremendous amount of cash leverage which I then re-invest into my marketing budget by participating and sharing simple low cost matrix programs over the past couple of years. Traffic Exchange Summit Updates

The Traffic Exchange Summit was formed in March 2011 by a large group of owners and customers of traffic exchanges. The core idea behind the summit in part was a desire to increase the awareness and effective use of advertising exchanges amount the broader Internet marketing community. Today, I wanted to update you on the status of the Traffic Exchange Summit and provide a glimpse of where we are going as we move ahead in the coming months. I have separated this information by category in order to present it in a logical format.

#1.) Traffic Exchange Summit Social Network and Community

We have an established social community with over 2,000 members and growing daily. This is a place where you can connect with other members, share your content (no spamming), post videos,  share photographs, join groups, participate in groups, comment and start threads in our forum, and much more.

The social network is hosted with the Ning Network, which is an advantage because we attract people who are active on Ning and looking for online marketing and Internet business help. We already have some of the key leaders in the advertising exchange niches as members and I encourage you to join and set up your free profile today. There is never going to be a charge to hold maintain your membership and by becoming active, you have the potential to dramatically increase your business result and network reach.

Ask Your Questions About Making Money Online

Throughout the week I communicate with dozens of new and guru caliber Internet marketers every week while managing my membership sites, hosting my podcast and building my own income programs. I have recognized a pattern that likely will not surprise you, many of the questions that come up in conversation are shared among many people – in other words many are searching for the same answers.
