How to Succeed Online

Thousands of people every month come online to pursue their dreams of creating a successful business, accomplishing their financial goals, and realizing true time freedom by succeeding in Internet marketing. Knowing that these are real people with real lives, most believing they are serious about their intention to be successful, so why so many fail?

Whether you are pursuing direct sales, network marketing, affiliate marketing, information product creation, or any other business model this post is offered to help you succeed.

Success is created using a formula requiring many ingredients, it is not an exact science because there is a large measure of art included in the formula. I wanted to explore several of the reasons so many people fail online and then provide you with a blueprint to help you achieve success online. I covered this topic on my podcast “InternetBusinessBlueprint” yesterday and I wanted to share these concepts with you here.

Why So Many People Fail:

1. They fail invest time in understand their mindset and potential limiting beliefs, therefore they are at risk for self-sabotage.

2. They fail to invest in their education to understand what is required to succeed online.

3. They fail to develop a business funnel.

4. They try to promote their business opportunity and affiliate programs without a list.

5. They fail to stick with anything to evaluate if it is working, they hop from program to program looking for the easy answer, or magic pill.

6. They fail to consider their marketing budget even if they cannot immediate invest in aggressive marketing – the budget can be small.

7. They fail to leverage social media and rely solely on traditional methods such as friends, family, the three-foot rule of warm market.

With so many failures it is not hard to imagine why they will not succeed. There is hope!

How to ensure your success online:

1. Succeed by understanding the critical mindset shift from “e to E,” employee to entrepreneur and make a firm decision about your success.

2. Succeed by getting the education required to understand what truly works online and what you need to know to take meaningful action.

3. Succeed by developing a congruent, effective, business funnel that includes multiple streams of income, including residual income.

4. Succeed by marketing a high ticket program first and a residual income programs second. You will need both.

5. Succeed by committing to a marketing budget even if it is $20 per month. The key is the discipline and expectation of a bigger budget.

6. Succeed by leveraging social media to reach a larger audience across a much larger market then your friends and family.

7. Succeed by marketing affiliate programs for monthly cash flow and to provide tools to your marketing place for duplication.

Action Checklist for your success:

1. Listen to my 7 part “Prosperity Mindset Course“, which you can get free at my Internet Business Blueprint Blog.

2. Listen to my 5 part “How to Reprogram Your Financial Thermostat” series on my podcast Internet Business Blueprint Podcast.

3. Invest the time to understand the answer to the following questions: I. Your Why? II. How Much Money? III. How Much Time?

I.     Your Why? Beyond money, what is the deepest motivating reason why you want to be successful in your business, use this as an anchor.

II.   How Much Money?

III.  How Much Time? How much time are you able to invest in your business each week, and how much time are you willing to invest in your                 business to succeed before you would ever consider giving up. Never give up!

4. Make a firm decision that you are going to do whatever it takes for as long as it takes to succeed.

5. Develop your business funnel to determine exactly how you are going to attract prospects into your funnel, what you are going to do to keep them engaged, and what you are going to market to the once they have opted in.

6. Take your time evaluating (not procrastinating) big ticket programs in order to find the one that is right for you. Beyond the program that I personally market, I have two others that I am not involved in, but can direct you to should you need any help getting started.

6. Carefully select the company and the mentors you will be working with as your vehicle for success. Make sure that you will be provided one on one coaching in addition to access to a “private members only” team website with the training and resources you will need to ensure your success.

7. Invest in yourself by investing time and money in your education. Learn what is required to provide you with the opportunity for success. Then put into massive action what you have learned and build your million dollar business.

google New Google Slap for Thin Affiliate Review Sites

I just finished reading an interesting blog post about the latest Google Slap by AdWords Guru Perry Marshall creator of “The Definitive Guide Google AdWords” an excellent content creator and blogger on the subject of AdWords. I recently heard Perry interviewed on the “Internet Marketing This Week Podcast” where he once again stated his case that affiliate marketing is not a “real” business. I don’t agree with him in terms of making a blanket statement as many affiliate marketers have created “real” businesses which include affiliate marketing within their funnel.

In his blog post “Google Slap for Product Sites,” inspired by an email that Perry received from Dr. Glenn Livingston (included in the post) concerning feedback he has been receiving and apparently test he has conducted that would indicate that Google has cracked down on thin Affiliate product review sites, which do not add value to the readers experience. These sites are light on content and heavy on affiliate links.

Perry Marshall again states his case and offers a bit of advice for the affiliate marketer, which I think is very prudent including a strategy for based on rich content sites leading to high value auto responder letters that make the case for the affiliate product which is closed on a tele-seminar. Not a bad idea.

Here are my thoughts as shared on Perry’s blog comments:

“Perry – I appreciate you for getting Dr.Livingston’s findings out to the community for consideration and action in our own businesses. Google has a simple primary objective, to provide their user with the best experience by presenting relevant search results. When their customer lands on a thin affiliate site that doesn’t add value, they will seek to take action and enforce slap – eventually every time.

I will not lump all affiliates into one category as I know several full time affiliates who produce content rich sites, provide meaningful reviews and add value for the user. The difficulty is that to separate those who do and those who don’t is more monumental than simply changing the algorithm and letting the advertisers figure it out.

The basic tenet of entrepreneurship is that entrepreneurs are compensated for the problems they solve and the value they provide. There is no doubt in my mind that professional affiliates who honor the rules add value.

The challenge now for them is knowing the way forward.

I just finished watching a powerful 51 minute video presentation by Russell Brunson on the topic  “Micro-Continuity.” If you are like me you likely are a member of more than one continuity program, which is basically a monthly subscription to access to a members only website where you access content pertaining to a niche or specific aspect of marketing, product creation, etc.

The marketplace is very competitive and it becomes a challenge for many to afford more than a few of these programs, which on average range anywhere from $17 to $97 per month and present a tremendous value for what you receive. Allow me to make a few assumptions so that I speak directly to those who can benefit most from this tool. So you have finally stepped into the world of making money online. You too, like many others, have decided to start with affiliate programs. Also, you must have heard that it’s not a big deal to make good money with affiliate marketing, provided you choose the right programs and do some strategic planning while promoting your affiliate products. So far so good.

The profession of affiliate marketing is competitive but if you are strategic and invest the time required to effectively structure your business funnel and marketing techniques you can create a profitable business that produces multiple streams of consistent income in a variety of niche markets.

Take a close look at the profession, you will see that not every one who gets into affiliate marketing is successful. People who are doing well leave no room for failure and take all security measures and understand its importance. When I first started promoting affiliate products using my affiliate links I had no idea that someone could literally steal my commissions.

Security is one of the key factors in properly setting up your affiliate marketing business. If you do not adopt proper security measures, your business will be at high risk potentially costing you thousands of dollars in lost commissions. One of the most important way to restore security is to protect your affiliate links. Do not take them for granted. A bit of carelessness on your part in regards to affiliate links may cost you a lot of dollars.

Do you know the long complicated links that you send to your prospective customers not only look convoluted but they can create a lot of problems too! Thank you for joining me for day four of our 35 day journey together! Today we are going to answer the question WHY? Why should a prospect decide to join your team? Why should a customer purchase your products or services? Rule #2 addressed the need to provide value 10 times to 100 times greater than any price you charge for your products and services. Rule #3 suggested that you must charge a premium price to create a margin to provide sufficient resources to provide extraordinary service. Rule #4 suggest we step into your prospects or customers shoes and answer the questions they may ask which lead to their decision to work with you, buy from you, or continue looking for alternatives.

“Provide a “Reason Why” customers should do business with you and pay you a premium.”

I am a chocoholic and I particularly love “Harry and David” truffles, they are my only true food related vice and I indulge it often. If you understand the maverick rules that have been explored thus far you know the answer, price and quantity are not the primary consideration for a consumer of premium products or services. The key is the quality of the experience as it relates to the price, it is the value that will motivate your customer to pay a premium price for a premium product or service experience.

Regardless of the product you are marketing, a high end dining experience or a box of chocolate, you must gain an understanding of the motivating factors for your chosen market. This rule applies to services as well and because a service experience is less tangible, you have an opportunity to multiply the value to the customer to a degree that they would pay any price to own the experience.

3. Based on the results of your survey test your brand, products, and services against your customers stated desires, not your competition. The fact is that the biggest threat to your business may not be your current competitors, more likely it is an unknown player that comes along and figures out how to give your customers what they really want.

4. Once you have clearly defined the value proposition you are going to build your brand upon, develop a story around your brand. It could be where the idea for your service came from, the sourcing of a component in your product, or causes you support through your sales. It does matter what the story is as long as it is compelling.

5. Tailor your messaging to consistently illustrate WHY your customers should buy from you, give them the reasons.

6. After you have watched the video, listened to the audios,  read the book and other material in your package share this information with others in your circle and network of influence. As stated, you want to surround yourself with like minded people and introduce others to the knowledge you gain on your journey.

As you begin to act on the principles contained in this material you will find that the people, resources and opportunities required to manifest your dreams will begin to attract to you. The relationships, clients and partners needed to live a BIG life will emerge and you will be in a position to establish new and larger goals.
