I am often asked if it is hard to make money online? … My answer, what do you mean by hard?

I interact daily with dozens of people all driven by a common goal to make money online and change their lives in meaningful ways. Among the most commonly asked questions are those focused on whether or not it is difficult to make money online. This is understandable because the Internet can be a very confusing place with so many promises of easy riches and push button profits, it is easy to see why people become discouraged when these programs fail to produce results for the great majority of people who try.

The key to succeeding online is approaching your business objectives with the proper mindset, one that allows you to see the possibilities and determine a path that will lead to your success. There is a transition must be made to become a successful online business owner… a transition I call going from ‘e to E.’

What is e to E?

Understanding the difference between how e = employees and E = Entrepreneurs are paid is a critical piece of the success formula, failure to understand this foundational concept will lead to discouragement and frustration on your journey. Let me go one step further, the lack of understanding of the transition from e to E is responsible for the failure of more budding entrepreneurs than any other single factor.

How are e = employees compensated?

employees are compensated by exchanging time for money, which is usually predetermined based on an hourly rate or salary.

How are E = Entrepreneurs compensated?

Entrepreneurs are compensated as a derivative the problems they solve and/or the value they provide to the marketplace. Typically, the level (or amount) of compensation is proportionate to the size of the problems solved or sheer amount of value provided. Isn’t that a beautiful thing?

Based on this truth, you can understand why you must avoid logging hours when you launch your new business. Forget about the hours you spend and understand that you will likely be under compensated for a period of time. If you refuse to quit you will eventually reach a tipping point and begin to earn based on a whole new set of guidelines. Once you have broken through to the entrepreneurial standard you will earn based on your true worth and not as a result of the number of hours you work.

What do you mean by hard?

Understanding the degree to which you are willing to sacrifice to achieve your dreams is another critical piece of the success formula. I have always believed that the definition of ‘hard’ is an individual one and is directly tied to your mindset. So what if it is hard…what matter is whether or not your dream worth it to you.

Here is a short video that might change the way you see your world and redefine the meaning of the word hard in your life. This video changed me, I already possessed a strong mindset toward self-sacrifice and hard work… yet this still caused a change in my perception of challenges.

Are what you perceive as road block merely obstacles?

Learning what you must become is the key to succeeding online whether your goal is making money, creating time freedom or changing the world. If you invest in yourself to accomplish your goals it will not matter if you perceive making money online as hard or easy, it will become irrelevant and you will do whatever it takes to make it happen. It really is that simple.

Do you know what to  place on your ‘from sender’ line?

I want to share a quick email marketing tip with you from my Mega Money List vault. Your results will improve dramatically by making a few small adjustments in the way you structure your auto-responder settings and the manner in which you carry out your campaigns. From time to time I will post tips and tools to help you get better results and grow a more responsive list.

Most people use the default ‘from field’ as provided by their Internet service provider or free email sites like Google’s G-mail and Yahoo Mail when they send an email which usually looks something like this: james@gmail.com (this is an example and not my real email address).

Using your ISP address or a free email account raw email address as noted above looks unprofessional and actually hurts your open rates according to AWeber, a leading email marketing services provider.

This email marketing mis-step is easily fixed and I am going to show you how to do that in this blog post. First, if you chose to include your email address in the ‘from sender’ line, be sure to set-up an email address which contains your domain. For example your ‘from sender’ line will look like this: james@yourcompanyname.com this is easier for your readers to recognize, strengthens you brand awareness, and looks more professional.

Another option is not to use your raw email address at all as most email clients allow you to mask your email address with text, such as your name, company name of other statements that would identify you for your subscribers.

When it comes to email marketing always remember that your primary goal is to get your email delivered to the in-box of the recipient and solidify your brand in your marketplace.  This may appear to be a small detail but I assure you that the payoff is big and you will benefit by making this adjustment to your email account settings.

George Kosch introduced a great new platform a couple of weeks ago which places this same technology into the hands of Platinum members and from which I have launched my personal live business center. A members forum allows you to build a tribe while helping others succeed online

Internet Entrepreneurs Forum was conceived as a project in the summer of 2010 and was inspired by Tissa Godavitarne‘s ACME People Search Forum which is masterfully utilized. I like the way Tissa uses his forum to build community through the forum by using it as a place where his members provide support for each other across their entire platform… this is very powerful and incredibly effective.  My vision is much the same as Tissa’s and because of this I am content with the steady and progressive growth of the forum based on the needs of the members.

Internet Entrepreneurs Forum is site #5 as I felt this would be a great site to complete as part of my 30 sites in 30 days November Big Harry Audacious Goal (BHAG), which has been detailed in prior posts on my blog.

The forum is built on the PhpBB script which is a free script and widely used by forum developers in a variety of niches. The script is very feature rich although it is not the most advanced option available. The administration area is easy to learn and manage, which is a real plus if you are in anyway technically challanged. I did add one additional script to provide an advertising function allowing me to install banner ads and other images to any section of forum I choose including individual post or specific groups within the forum.

I set up the initial sections of the forum under two main categories, community and forum (main) with several sub-categories. This is just the start and the categories and sub-categories will expand organically as the forum community grows.

The project plan was very straight forward and here is a checklist of the task completed in this project:

1. Secured the domain and set-up the C panel account on my server.

2. Download and install the PhpBB script here and manually installed.

3. Located and installed the banner rotator php script.

4. Contracted out the graphics and installed.

5. Set-up administrative permissions and preferences.

6. Set-up initial categories and topics.

7. Installed initial ad codes in HTML.

How am I monetizing the site?

This forum will be monetized using affiliate programs promoted with banner ads. Once the forum membership reaches my established benchmarks for traffic and membership size, banner advertising will be sold on a selective basis. In addition, I will post reviews of products and develop special offers for the members and offer the members who own products and programs to offer similar discounts to our members. Direct promotional programs like this will be restricted to a predetermined categories of the forum as not to violate the ‘anti-spamming’ policies I have established on the forum.

This will be my first foray into forum ownership and I have been told that forums are difficult to start and I accept that… most good things in life are often difficult to obtain, so I am ready to patiently invest both time and energy to accomplish my objectives.
