Today, I was working on a new product that I will be releasing shortly to help offline businesses understand the power of social media. I noted a figure that I had referenced on my sales page that just didn’t look right to me, so I thought I had better do a little more research.

The number I had referenced siting active Facebook users was a little over 200 million, I knew that was no longer correct so I went to the source and was a little blown away.

I thought I would share what I discovered with you courtesy of Facebook.

Today I was thinking about leadership and the mindset of a leader. I looked around my library in my home office and the book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill a truly remarkable book. I wanted to share this amazing book with my blog readers and followers, so I have prepared this post and included a download link for a free deluxe edition of the book. Think and Grow Rich contains principles that have been tested over the decades and proven to yield life changing results by thousands of people around the world. It was Mr. Andrew Carnegie’s idea that the “magic formula,” which gave him his stupendous fortune should be made available to the average person. He believe that these success principles should be taught in all public schools and colleges, and expressed the opinion that if properly taught it would revolutionize the entire education system. I agree!

Effective List Building Part 6: E-zine Ad Marketing and Ad Swaps

Do you publish an e-zine? An e-zine is a web-based newsletter that is more highly designed to take on the appearance of a traditional magazine and it can be a powerful tool for building a list of loyal subscribers. Unlike auto-responder campaigns, your e-zine should be published less frequently, perhaps once or twice each month and should include information on topics beyond your business. This is the perfect format to share a little about your life in order to provide your reader with a chance to get to know you better.

E-zine ad swaps involve trading advertising exposure in your e-zine in exchange for exposure in another e-zine in your niche or a closely related niche. I recommend negotiating a direct swap making this a great free option although if the other publisher has a much larger distribution list, you may be asked to either pay a small premium or perhaps allow the other publisher two issues in your e-zine in exchange of one in theirs.

I recommend setting an objective to have two ad swaps for each issue you publish and closely monitor your opt in results by using a tracking link or promoting different pages in each e-zine. Continue to advertise in the publications that convert to opt-ins or sales and move away from those that do not. If you see traffic and opt-ins peak and begin to fall off assume that you have obtained maximum penetration of this list and begin looking for a replacement.

Focus more on building your brand and delivering value than making a sale. If you write ads that demonstrate your authority in your niche and give away a high value e-book, special report or auto in exchange for a name and email address from the reader. Keep in mind, you will have plenty of time to sell after the subscriber has joined your list, which of course if your objective.

Twitter to Introduce New Features True or False?

Over the weekend I read an interesting post on Tech Crunch by MG Siegler a regular contributor at Tech Crunch. This post is titled “Twitter to Add Nifty Site Features that May make You Forget Third-Party Clients” and was in response to a tweet by Alex Payne @al3x on Twitter, a Tech Crunch staff member.

I personally have not used Twitter’s own interface (twitter.com) with any regularity in several months. I became a Tweet Deck (a third party application to assist with site management) user because I like the interface and found that it was far more user friendly and allowed me to better manage information, replies, and follows using Tweet Deck’s multi-column desktop application.

I have now integrating what I believe to best the best third-party application available for the Twitter user who manages multiple accounts, marketers on the site, or wants to extend their brand identity through Twitter, which is a very powerful use of the site. It is called “MarketMe Tweet” and it is phenomenal!
